Temari (テマリ, Temari) is a supporting character of the Naruto series that was created by Masashi Kishimoto, It first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in November 1999. She was later introduced during the Chūnin Exam Arc that began in Volume 4.

She first appeared in Naruto Volume 4, CH. 34 "Intruders?".

Major Story Arcs

Chūnin Exam Arc

As part of the mission handed down by their father, Temari, Kankuro, and Gaara were sent to the Hidden Leaf Village to take part in the Chūnin Exams. They passed the first part, they made it through the Forest of Death, then Temari fought with Tenten in the preliminaries before the final rounds. The weapons expert was of little effectiveness against Temari's wind justu,

In the final rounds, Temari fought against Shikamaru Nara. The young man seemed lazy, but he was also a genius. Despite getting the better of Temari with his shadow possession jutsu, he actually forfeited the match. His reasoning that he was nearly out of chakra, and there was no sense in fighting anymore.

Invasion of Konoha Arc

Just as Gaara was losing control in his match against Sasuke Uchiha, both the Sand and Sound Villages began their sneak attack on the Leaf Village. Temari and Kankuro were ordered to pull Gaara away until he managed to control himself. Temari stayed behind in an attempt to stop Sasuke from following them, but she was easily defeated.

Once Temari and Kankuro caught up after Gaara lost of Naruto Uzumaki, they picked him up to take him home. To the shock of both the elder siblings, Gaara apologized to them. Something changed in Gaara in his fight with Naruto.

Sasuke Retrieval Arc

It had been revealed that the Sand Village had been tricked by Orochimaru to take part in the attack o the Leaf. He had murdered their father and had been impersonating him. As an act of good faith, the Sand signed a treaty with the Leaf. In this first act, Temari and her siblings were sent to aid the Leaf Village to retrieve Sasuke Uchiha. Temari arrived just in time to save Shikamaru from Tayuya. She asked him for information on their enemy, but ignored his suggestion to retreat. Instead, she used the Summoning: Quick Beheading Dance to kill Tayuya in one blow.

At the Leaf Village Hospital, Temari scolded Shikamaru to losing control of himself as many of the team he was put in charge of nearly died. He stormed away rather than argue, but he still saw them to the gates as they returned home. Temari promised to help him out another time.

Kazekage Rescue Arc

Two years later, Temari was back at the Leaf Village to help coordinate the Chūnin Exams. She spent most of her time with Shikamaru. While on her way back home, she was met by Naruto, Sakura Haruno, and Kakashi Hatake. They told her that Gaara, the new Kazekage, had been abducted by the Akatsuki, andthey were heading there to assist in his rescue. To Temari's surprise, Naruto was even more passionate about helping Gaara as she was. As they arrived at the Leaf Village, Kankuro was near death due to a poison he was infected with as he tried to save Gaara. His life was saved by Sakura.

Rather than being allowed to go after her brother, Temari was ordered to be part of the defense of the borders on the chance some other nations would take advantage of the Kazekage's absence. Though the One-Tails was removed from Gaara, Naruto managed to save him with the help of Chiyo forbidden jutsu.

Five Kage Summit Arc

Much had happened over time, and the Akatsuki were becoming more of a threat to many of the other nations. A summit was called in the Land of Iron of the five great shinobi nations. Temari and Kankuro were Gaara's bodyguards for the trip. During the meetings, there was an attack by by both Sasuke Uchiha and Madara Uchiha. Madara was declaring war on all the nations to claim the remaining Jinchūriki. The Kages all agreed to unite to stop the Akatsuki and formed the Allied Shinobi Forces army.

Before heading home, Temari followed Gaara in finding Kakashi, who was in the Land of Iron with Naruto. After telling them of the events at the Summit, they returned home to prepare for the coming war.

Confining the Jinchūriki Arc

Temari would later accompany Gaara to the Hidden Cloud Village was they organized their forces and attack plans.

Fourth Shinobi War Arc

As part of the Shinobi Alliance, Temari was placed in the Fourth Division. Gaara was the ultimate superior of this division, but Shikamaru was Gaara's proxy for his orders. Temari couldn't help be remind Gaara of his personality issues in leadership. The Akatsuki had created an army of revived ninja using a forbidden jutsu. Among those ninja was the Fourth Kazekage, Temari's father.

During the war, Tamari fought to stop the Third Raikage. Temari's jutsu were effective, but trying to seal the Raikage proved to be more difficult than they anticipated. One of Naruto's shadow clones arrived to help them. When the former Raikage was sealed, she ordered her division to head to help Gaara as he fought the Second Mizukage.

Ten-Tails Revival Arc

After rejoining with Shikamaru's half of the division, they all rushed to help Naruto Uzumaki in stopping Madara Uchiha and Obito Uchiha, who had previously been impersonating Madara, from fully reviving the Ten-Tailed Beast.

Naruto (2002)

The Naruto anime series is the first direct adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's original manga. It's produced by Studio Pierrot and first began airing in October 3, 2002. The series lasted for 220 episodes. The last of which aired on February 8, 2007, and it was then followed by the direct equal, Naruto Shippuden. Temari's first anime appearance was in Naruto - Episode 20 "A New Chapter Begins: The Chūnin Exam!", which aired on February 20, 2003. Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Romi Paku, and the U.S. dub produced by VIZ Media is done by Tara Platt.

Naruto Shippuden (2007)

The Naruto Shippuden anime series is the second direct adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's original manga. This series is produced by Studio Pierrot and first began airing in February 15, 2007. Temari's first appearance in this series is in Naruto Shippuden Ep. 2 "The Akatsuki Makes Its Move", which aired on February 15, 2007. Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Romi Paku, and the U.S. dub produced by VIZ Media is done by Tara Platt.

NARUTO Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals (2012)

The NARUTO Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals (NARUTO-ナルト- SD ロック・リーの青春フルパワー忍伝 , NARUTO Sugoi Doryoku: Rokku Rī no Seishun Furupowā Ninden) is a short-comedy adaptation of the of the Naruto spin-off manga series, Rock Lee's Seishun Full Power Ninden. It's produced by Studio Pierrot and first began airing in April 3. 2012. While not a direct adaptation of the spin-off manga, it follows the same theme of chibi-style characters that focuses on Team 9 in wacky adventures and situations that frequently breaks the fourth wall.

Temari's first appearance NARUTO Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals Ep. 20 "I want to be friends with Gaara! / The Rock Lee Impostor Strikes!", which aired on August 14,2012. Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Romi Paku, and the series has not been dubbed in English.
